WHY SHOULD I HELP?            

Many of us get so caught up in providing our own children with just the right supplies and clothes, that we don't realize that too many of their fellow students' families can't afford any supplies, new clothes or shoes without holes--unless they go without necessities like food or medicine.

We're so busy fighting to ensure that our schools have adequate computer, music, arts and sports programs, that we're unaware that over 300 Howard County Public School System students don't even have homes! Their families must live in shelters or dismal charity-sponsored motel rooms.

No longer is financial crisis only a problem for those in chronic poverty. Many more of the "working poor", single moms or dads, and disabled parents on fixed incomes are living in crisis or just one step away. Because today's skyrocketing prices hit us all, your PFS donation may be helping the family next door.

WHY SHOULD MY FAMILY HELP?                              

The children learn that not all their classmates are as fortunate as they are -- and that there's something they can do to help.

Plus, it gives the family a very positive activity to do together.

WHY SHOULD MY BUSINESS HELP?   

While the dozens of businesses that support PFS do so to help their neighbors in need, in the long run they actually benefit from better educated employees, more successful customers and a stronger community.

Working together to collect funds or supplies for such a worthy cause can also be a valuable employee team building exercise.

(Bonus: the publicity the PFS program partners receive generates good will in the community!)
