HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
To get the most supplies for the lowest prices, PFS works with Kits for Kidz, a national educational supplier that offers deep discounts to programs for low-income families. The price for a backpack filled with required supplies for an elementary, middle or high school student averages out to $12.50 per student. That's far less than half of the cost of buying at local chain discount stores!

WHEN DO YOU NEED MY DONATION?
RIGHT NOW is a great time to contribute!
Our major drive is during the spring and summer.
DEADLINE for 2008 supply donations is JULY 10.
BUT, since PFS is now a year-round program, money must also be raised throughout the fall and winter to pay for supplies used in the Cedar Lane School's special needs students' early spring and summer job training sessions. The supplies they sort and pack, together with packs and supplies raised throughout the summer, go to county public schools at summer's end.
WILL I KNOW WHO I HAVE SPONSORED?
Prepare for Success, like the school system, must be very sensitive to the privacy of students and their families. Only the professional guidance counselors and Pupil Personnel Workers who distribute PFS packs and supplies, according to need, know which students are aided.
I WANT TO HELP, BUT I DON'T HAVE MUCH CASH - WHAT CAN I DO?
You can volunteer your time to collect, sort and deliver supplies/packs, or do other program jobs. Between July 7 and August 8, PFS collection boxes for loose supply donations can be found at all Howard County libraries, Columbia Village Centers, the George Howard Building in Ellicott City and the Columbia Gateway Building. Click on the CALENDAR tab above for more information.
I'VE MADE A DONATION, WHAT MORE CAN I DO?
As noted above, there's much PFS work to be done, e.g.: supply jobs, recruiting donors and backpack sponsors, clerical jobs, participation on the PFS Advisory Committee.
