Despite the fact that Howard County, Maryland, is one of the richest counties in the nation, over 9,000 (17.6%) of its public school students must rely on the Free & Reduced Meal program for nutritious food their families cannot afford.
More than 400 of them are homeless.
For the growing number of families who can barely keep up with high food, fuel and shelter costs, buying expensive, required school supplies is next to impossible.
We can help.
Since 2002, PFS has equipped over 22,000 HCPSS elementary, middle and high school students with backpacks filled with essential school supplies, plus hundreds of loose supplies distributed throughout year.
